Team Carinthia: “We reject a finger-wagging policy”

The Carinthian team answers questions from the Carinthian Homeland Service

Which measures are most urgent for your party in the next legislative period of the Carinthian state parliament, to ensure the well-being of the country and its citizens?
Citizen participation must also be significantly expanded. It applies, Menschen in politische Prozesse und Entscheidungen bestmöglich einzubeziehen.

In the area of protection of the natural landscape, the environment and the climate?
TK: Environment-, Nature- and climate protection on the one hand and economic development on the other are not a contradiction in terms for the Carinthian team, but can only go together. To become less dependent on electricity imports, it counts, to massively push the expansion of renewable energy. PV systems must be much easier to set up, also in open spaces.

In the field of social justice and the preservation of prosperity?
TK: 100.000 Citizens, who are threatened and affected by poverty and social exclusion, represent a clear political mandate to act. These people need targeted support. In general it applies, die Folgen der massiven Teuerung zielgerichtet abzufedern.

In the area of maintaining and strengthening the business location?
TK: Businesses need the best possible support, above all due to perfect framework conditions, fast administrative procedures and reduction of bureaucracy. We need a business-friendly climate. This also includes, that we carry out a spring cleaning of laws and regulations. Bureaucratic hurdles must be removed and reduced to a necessary minimum.

In the field of education and job security?
TK: Measures are needed in the field of manpower- and shortage of skilled workers. This begins with increased qualification measures and extends to better coordination between the educational institution and the company. Improved offers in the area of childcare must make it possible, that women in particular can return to work more quickly, as long as they want it.

What attitude does your party take towards the Carinthian homeland- and traditional associations, who feel committed to maintaining national patriotism and the traditions of defensive struggles and referendums?
TK: These organizations represent an important backbone for Carinthia. You take care of it, that a culture of remembrance is lived and traditions are upheld. Team Carinthia's top candidate Mayor Gerhard Köfer has been actively supporting these associations for years and is an equal partner in discussions.

How do you rate the joint commemoration for all victims of war, Dictatorship and violence on Carinthian soil?
TK: This is absolutely important and necessary and needs to be strengthened in the future. Es gilt positive, to build strong bridges of dialogue and cooperation.

What is your understanding?- and reconciliation work of the home associations in relation to the Carinthian minority issue and ethnic group politics?
TK: That was a historic step, which was also internationally recognized with a lot of praise and encouragement. A trend-setting future decision for Carinthia was made here and a completely new and positive form of understanding was lived. the understanding- and reconciliation work must in any case continue to be pursued and supported.

What measures do you want to take to preserve the historically grown Carinthian identity, an indispensable part of which is also the Slovene language and culture?
TK: Important is, to constantly emphasize this Carinthian identity, to live and remember them. This is also possible through joint events, which are intended to appeal to young people in particular, um ihnen diese Werte und Errungenschaften aktiv zu vermitteln.

What measures do you intend to take in the future to maintain and strengthen the Alps-Adriatic Peace Region??
TK: Carinthia is located at the intersection of three cultures, which means that our home state also has an important geopolitical position. Cooperation and intensified dialogue are needed throughout the Alps-Adriatic region. The regions should exchange information and network better with each other and promote joint projects and plans. It applies, voneinander zu lernen und auf Zusammenarbeit zu setzen und das in allen Bereichen: From the economy and tourism to education and infrastructure.

Which projects would you initiate in the sense of "senza confini" in the coming years??
TK: The Carinthia team is committed to this, to revive and redesign the "Heimatherbst".. In diesem Zusammenhang kann auch der „senza confini“-Gedanke verstärkt beworben und in Szene gesetzt werden. Team Carinthia is very critical of a joint Olympic bid, especially because of the cost issue.

What possibilities do you see with regard to the shutdown or safeguarding of the Krsko nuclear power plant?
TK: Slovenia needs to be convinced of its potential in the field of renewable energy. Nuclear power must not be a model for the future and from Team Carinthia's point of view Krsko is associated with dramatic risks for Carinthia. It applies, weiters alle rechtlichen Möglichkeiten gegen den Weiterbetrieb und die Erweiterung zu nutzen.

How do you feel about the dialogue between former opponents of the political and military conflicts of the 20. century?
TK: This is an extremely positive development, that contributes to it, to fill up historically grown rifts and to find new forms of dialogue and the willingness to talk. Especially in view of the Ukraine war, all possibilities must be used, also at the diplomatic level, to take peacekeeping measures.

What possibilities do you see, to obtain ethnic group rights for the old Austrian residual ethnic group with German mother tongue in Slovenia?
TK: Here, too, the Carinthia team relies on dialogue with Slovenia. It needs that recognition. The attitude of our neighboring country must still be questioned and not accepted. In addition to the country- the federal government also has a duty here, to continue to work. Slovenia needs to be convinced of the need for this measure.
